Our House

The four stars Bed and Breakfast La Maison de l'Ermitage, is a large ancestral country house, on a large plot of land on the south shore of the St-Lawrence River and within walking distance of the center of Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, Quebec, Canada, 100 km east of the Quebec bridges.  Of the five rooms, four have a view on the River, and three have private bathroom.  A lavish breakfast prepared by your hosts Johanne Grenier et Adrien Gagnon, will enhance your stay.  We are within walking distance of many fine restaurants.

Detente on the covered porch

The wrap around covered porch offers many interesting view points to carry you back to a quieter time.

Don’t miss seeing the magnificent sunsets, a most awe-inspiring sight with the colors on the mountains of Charlevoix as background and the beauty of the lighthouse blinking in the River.

The lounge and breakfast room

Each morning savor an individually prepared breakfast, served in a spacious well naturally lit room ( 23 large windows).

We take special care to present you a cuisine low in fat and sugar and that is very much gourmet. You may use this same room for your longing and comfort.

Our pets

Throughout the years we have sheltered on our property many different type of animals but we still have beside the rabbits and ducks, our lying hens that contribute fresh eggs for the breakfast. In the house, our abyssinian cat, Brunante, may be mischievous at time but is very adorable.

Saint-Jean-Port-Joli

A required stop on any sightseeing tour, Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, named Canadian Cultural Capital for 2005 by the Canadian Government, is a distinctly unique component of Quebec’s cultural landscape.

A true wood sculpting Mecca, it owes much of its acclaim to the works of three pioneers who put this picturesque village on Quebec’ tourist map in the 1930’s. Médard Bourgault (sculpture), Émilie Chamard (weaving)  and Eugène Leclerc (miniature boats).Sitting at the edge of the St-Lawrence River, close to the marina, the village quickly reveals its workshops, galleries and museums. An excellent relay between Ontario and the Maritimes
